Each dock power pedestal is designed to be a reliable, compact combination of power, metering, and communication in one unit. The superior build of our pedestals provides durability, functionality, and long-lasting appeal above that of our competitors. Our years of experience have allowed us to design and manufacture the highest quality dock power pedestal available.
Our equipment is built using .125” (1/8”) thick 5052h32 aluminum, which is stronger, lighter, and more than twice the thickness of the 16ga. (.059”) thick 304stainless steel used by some of our competitors. Our pedestals, sub-stations, and truss-reinforced panelboard enclosures are build using as much of these materials as possible. All of our units are welded rather than riveted to minimize any galvanic corrosion within the unit, which allows for contiguous electrical bonding. This helps to protect against corrosion in all of the electrical appurtenances that are subsequently attached to the base unit. The same engineering philosophy applies to the use of as many identical materials as possible up to and including our .25” (1/4”) mounting plates for our pin and sleeve type receptacles. Also inherent to our design philosophy is the use of all TIG welded construction for additional strength and overall appearance of the unit. All these factors ensure unsurpassed durability, strength, and longevity, especially for high turnover, high end, and large vessel/high capacity marinas. All of our equipment manufactured in Hollywood, Florida USA is a synergistic blend of heavy gauge, marine-rated aluminum, bending, TIG welding, internal bracing, and powder coating; all work together to result in quality greater than the sum of its parts.
All of our 3rd party components are of the highest quality as made by the following distinguished manufacturers: Square D for the breakers, Hubbell for the receptacles, Marathon for the blocks, and Carlo Gavazzi or EZ Meters for the electric meters.
Our transformers are all double-dipped, copper-wound, and high-efficiency TP1 rated. Additionally, our transformer housings are designed for heat convection, i.e. for use without fans. This is another differentiator between Dockside Power and other designs. We eliminate the possibility of fan failure that can lead to transformer failure when the airflow stops and the internal temperature rises to a level that exceeds the temperature rating for installed dry-type transformers.
